smile, and the world smiles with you...

So as the business is progressing, the costs are being analyzed and the nature of the business personalities are taking shape, keeping an eye on the creative and the passion and the fun can take a back seat. There's websites and shopping carts and phone book ads. Discussions about demographics and business card logos and what IS web hosting and why do we need it. And coffee... and wine... and kids and life... but simple human connection... the new Ray Lamontagne album, a glass of Beaujolais-Villages... okay, maybe a FEW glasses... and laughing...

Taking your "late meeting" sitting on the sink in the bathroom while the other showers... laughing about an "incoming fax" under the door from one of the kids needing a last look at homework... feeling peace in your heart and in your mind as the newest creation takes transitions from thoughts and words to tangible beauty...

This jewelry business is more than just a business... its art and life and expression and beauty no matter what goes on each day... no matter how many hours... it's love.

Pushing Forward

A long time has past the inception of "The Long and Winding Road", but we have continued to push forward. The result - RSO is finally beginning to take shape. After a long summer hiatus due to remodeling, and with the launching of our eBay store and rsojewelry.com, RSO has finally become a web-based custom jewelry designer and internet store. Of course we still have the usual bugs to work out of all of our systems, but spirits are good, hopes are high, and custom-made exclusive jewelry is being created daily. What more can an artisan and a bean counter ask for.

A big thank you goes out to all of those who have helped support us during our first year, and to all those who never give up on us and our ideas, hopes, and dreams. You know who you are, and you're the best. Thanks also goes out to those of you who continue to follow our blogs and our success.

Don't forget to check out our eBay store at stores.shop.ebay.com/Robert-Stephen-Originals and our website at rsojewelry.com for a look at our newest products. Remember, we'll be adding new products each day as we are just starting those up so please be patient with us. Oh yeah! We also will be in our local phone books very soon. I believe the Northwest Indiana AT&T books come out in February, and you will see us there under jewelry repair and religious goods.

If anyone has any questions at all, at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at rsoriginals@me.com or by phone at 219-201-3547 or 219-712-9413. Thanks again! Ava & Rob

Epiphany, O.P. and Dewitt Jones

So I'm sitting here reading this article by Dewitt Jones on Page 36 of the March, 2010 issue of Outdoor Photographer called "Find Your Passionette!", and it actually made me start to cry. In the article, he responds to a reader's disappointment with him or her self about not having a single passion in life. Mr. Jones basically says that it's ok and normal in today's society. He says why have one passion when you can have many "passionettes". Don't spend your life longing for one passion, but grab each passionette when you can and hold on. This describes me, my life, and my displeasure with my self to a T. I've always thought of myself as somewhat of a failure for not pursuing one passion to its fullest, even though I am so good at so many of my own passionettes. However, after reading Dewitt's words, I've had an immediate epiphany regarding my life and my many passions - I'm a better person for it, a more experienced and compassionate soul, and a more objective person for all of my hard work. I'm given much of myself to a variety of tasks and "passionettes" and am all the richer for it. I've finally realized that my passions for diving, photography, writing, art, reading, culture, religion, fishing, my love of Ava, my children, family, justice, and jewelry making all complement and supplement each other, then, now, and always. I can find great joy in a single day fishing, or a single image captured at the right moment, and that joy can fuel my love of and desire for my other passions. I knew there was a reason I always loved O.P. Thanks Dewitt Jones! Thank You Very Much!

The Long and Winding Road... capitalized appropriately for love

So our story goes a little something like this...

Rob: "Do you EVER capitalize appropriately?"

Me: "No. Not because I can't, I just CHOOSE not to."

Rob: "Huh... suspicious"

Me: "So... what? Can you like, do everything?"

Rob: "Not EVERYTHING, but I can probably figure it out..."

And that, my dear friends and random strangers was the birth of Robert Stephen Originals. Basically. One handy artisan, and one bean counter with an eye for trends... fashion trends that is. With family on both coasts and down-to-earth midwestern roots we craft a unique style to match your mood for an affordable price. Simply you... whatever that may be... and if you don't see it, contact us, we can probably figure it out.
